Below are the questions we hear every day from San Diego County contractors, event hosts, property managers, and homeowners. If you do not see your question here, call our dispatcher at (619) 308-0313 โ we will answer it directly, with no pressure to book.
How quickly can Vesper deliver a portable toilet in San Diego?โผ
Most weekday orders placed before 10 a.m. ship the same day. Afternoon and evening orders typically deliver the following morning. For true emergencies โ pipe failures, water-main breaks, wildfire response, displaced tenants โ we can frequently roll a truck within two to four hours, including nights and weekends. Coastal North County (Carlsbad, Oceanside, Encinitas) and far East County (Alpine, Ramona, Jamul) sometimes add a short window depending on existing route density that day.
How much does a portable toilet rental cost in San Diego County?โผ
Standard construction units run roughly $135โ$200 per month with weekly servicing included. Event rentals are typically $150โ$275 per day depending on unit type and venue access. ADA-compliant units add about $60โ$100 per service period over a standard unit. Luxury 2-stall restroom trailers start around $950 for a Friday-through-Sunday weekend; larger 4- and 6-stall trailers scale from there. Our detailed Cost Guide breaks down every line item โ including the few that quietly add up across longer rentals.
What is actually included in a rental?โผ
Every rental includes delivery to your San Diego County address, placement and chocking, initial stocking (toilet paper, hand sanitizer or sani-wipes, and a urinal screen), and pickup at the end of your rental period. Long-term rentals also include scheduled servicing โ pumping, freshwater refill, restocking, deodorizing, and inspection โ on a weekly, twice-weekly, three-times-weekly, or daily schedule. The only items that are typically extras are relocations within a job site, after-hours emergency service stops outside your normal schedule, and damage caused by vandalism or misuse.
How often will the unit be serviced?โผ
Weekly servicing is our default and covers a typical 5-person construction crew using a single unit. Crews larger than 7โ8 people sharing one unit should move to twice-weekly service. High-traffic public sites (parks projects, public restroom replacements, large events) usually need three-times-weekly or daily service. We will recommend a schedule based on crew size and usage โ and you can adjust mid-rental.
How many portable toilets do I need for my event or jobsite?โผ
For events the industry standard is roughly 1 unit per 50 guests for a 4-hour event, scaled up for alcohol service (+15%), all-female crowds (+15%), and event duration. For construction sites, Cal/OSHA Title 8 CCR ยง1526 requires 1 toilet for 1โ20 workers, 2 for 21โ35, and so on, plus a hand-wash station where running water is not available. Our How Many Toilets Do You Need? guide includes worked examples for common San Diego events and crew sizes.
Do you offer ADA-compliant portable toilets?โผ
Yes. Our ADA units provide a 60-inch interior turning radius, ground-level entry (no step-up), dual interior grab bars, a self-closing door with assist hinges, and a baby-changing-friendly interior layout. ADA units are required at any public event open to the general public, on construction sites with ADA-covered workers, and at any City-permitted special event in San Diego. We recommend one ADA unit per 20 standard units, or at minimum one per event regardless of size.
Can you deliver luxury restroom trailers for weddings?โผ
Yes. Our 2-, 4-, 6-, and 8-stall luxury restroom trailers feature flushing porcelain toilets, running hot and cold water, climate-controlled interiors, interior LED lighting, full-length mirrors, hardwood-look flooring, sound systems, and exterior skirting that hides the chassis. Trailers require a level pad, a standard 110V or 30A power connection (we supply generators if needed), and a freshwater connection or onboard freshwater tank. Popular for weddings at private estates in Rancho Santa Fe, Fairbanks Ranch, Bonita, and the back-country.
Do I need a permit to put a portable toilet on the street or sidewalk?โผ
On private property โ driveway, side yard, fenced jobsite โ no permit is needed. In the public right-of-way (street, sidewalk, alley) you typically need an encroachment permit from the City of San Diego (or the relevant jurisdiction). For City-permitted special events held in parks or on public streets, your event permit will list portable restroom requirements and approved placement. We can deliver to almost any location once the permit is in hand and will help you understand what the permitting office is asking for.
What about coastal and beach deliveries?โผ
We deliver to almost every beach access point in San Diego County, including Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, La Jolla Shores, Del Mar, Cardiff, Carlsbad, and Oceanside. State Parks and the Port of San Diego have specific staging rules and time windows โ we are familiar with all of them. For deliveries onto soft sand, we use plywood pads to prevent sinking and recommend daily or twice-daily servicing because of the higher turnover.
How does servicing work for long-term construction rentals?โผ
Once your unit is on site, you are placed on a recurring service route. Our technician arrives in a marked Vesper service truck on your scheduled day, locates the unit, pumps the waste tank into a sealed tank on the truck, rinses the holding tank, refills the freshwater flush reservoir, restocks toilet paper and hand sanitizer, applies deodorant, inspects the unit for damage, and leaves a service ticket in the unit. You receive a service report by email.
What happens to the waste?โผ
All waste collected by our trucks is hauled to a permitted municipal wastewater treatment facility in San Diego County. We do not dispose of waste at unauthorized sites โ ever. Our service vehicles carry California Department of Public Health waste-hauler endorsements, and our drivers complete annual hazardous-materials and bloodborne-pathogen training.
Are your units cleaned between rentals or just pumped?โผ
Cleaned. Every returning unit at our San Diego County service yard is high-pressure interior washed, sanitized with hospital-grade quaternary cleaner, deodorized, and hardware-inspected before it is staged for the next delivery. Units with damage are pulled from service. This is genuinely different from how most national chains operate, which is a big part of why our repeat customers choose us.
Can you add the GC, venue, or municipality as additional insured?โผ
Yes, at no charge. We carry $2,000,000 in commercial general liability and $1,000,000 in automobile liability and can issue a certificate of insurance with additional-insured endorsements typically within one business day. Just send us the exact legal name and address of the entity to be named.
What is your service area?โผ
All of San Diego County โ from Oceanside, Fallbrook, and Bonsall in the north to Imperial Beach and San Ysidro at the border; from Coronado, La Jolla, and Del Mar on the coast to El Cajon, Lakeside, Alpine, Ramona, and Jamul in the east. We also handle deliveries into portions of South Riverside County (Temecula, Murrieta, Wildomar) and accept job-site work in Imperial County on request.
Do you offer hand-wash stations and hand sanitizer?โผ
Yes. Free-standing foot-pump sinks (single-basin and dual-basin), wall-mount sanitizer dispensers, and pump-bottle stations. The San Diego County food code requires hand-wash stations at any temporary food event, and Cal/OSHA requires hand-wash facilities on construction sites where running water is not otherwise available.
What is the difference between a standard and a deluxe flushing unit?โผ
A standard unit has a non-flushing toilet over a 60-gallon waste tank. A deluxe flushing unit adds a foot-pedal flush mechanism that rinses the bowl with deodorized blue water, plus a built-in foot-pump hand-wash sink with fresh water, soap, and paper towels. Deluxe units are the right call for weddings, corporate events, and any setting where guest experience matters.
Do you do emergency and after-hours deliveries?โผ
Yes, 24/7. Our after-hours dispatch line is staffed for true emergencies โ fires, floods, plumbing failures, evacuations. After-hours emergency delivery carries a modest dispatch fee on top of the normal rental, which is almost always reimbursable through insurance for property-damage claims.
Will the unit be locked or vandal-resistant?โผ
Every unit ships with a slide-bolt interior privacy latch. For sites with public access or after-hours risk, we can supply units with exterior padlocks, lockable lid clamshells over the waste tank, and reinforced door hinges. Talk to dispatch about your site conditions and we will spec the right unit.
